2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament - Updated After Day 2
Quick Takes
- SMU played like the better team for most of the game but only playing 6 players caught up with them with USC getting the upset win. SMU had a decent floater to win the game but ended up a little bit short
- Baylor had a rough 1st half against New Mexico State but pulled away in the second half winning big
- South Carolina was down early and fought their way back, going back and forth with Marquette until about the 5-minute mark but then went on big run led by Thornwell who ended with 29 points and 11 rebounds
- Duke dominated all game against Troy 13 three-pointers and 21 points coming from Grayson Allen off the bench
- Kansas started out slow but after they got in a groove it was all over for UC Davis
- Michigan State couldn't find the basket and got behind big early but fought back to win big behind the two freshmen Ward and Bridges
- Rhode Island outlasted Creighton in an 11 over 6 upset
- Oregon blew out Iona
- Michigan and Oklahoma State had the best game of the day going back and forth with big shot after big shot with Michigan pulling out a close game behind Walton's 26 points and 11 assists
- UNC with an easy victory
- Seton Hall was up in the second half but Arkansas came back for the win
- Cincinnati looked like a team who could have a couple upsets in this tournament with dominant victory over Kansas State
- Kent State kept it close against UCLA but in the end, all the talent was too much with 5 guys in double figure scoring
- Wichita State in a close game most of the day but looked better than a 10 seed in its win over Dayton
- Kentucky did enough to win against Norther Kentucky
- 4 upsets on the day if you count the 9 versus 8 matchup
- 6 total upsets for the tournament through 2 days
